Family Supports

Our School-Based Preventive Program is a partnership with the Erie County Department of Social Services, Child and Family Services and the Buffalo Public Schools. Through this program, our staff, called Family Support Specialists, are stationed within Buffalo schools to help students with attendance or behavior problems to get back on track.

Our Family Support Specialists help:
  • Connect students and families to healthcare, mental health services, after school programs and assistance with obtaining basic needs
  • With individual and group mentoring
  • Conduct home visits to meet with students and their families
  • Families navigate school processes including registration and parent-teacher conferences
