D’Youville removes cap on Say Yes scholarships it will offer

D’Youville College will expand the number of its students on scholarship through Say Yes.

Say Yes, the nonprofit that covers tuition at state colleges and universities for Buffalo students who graduate high school, also partners with more than 100 private colleges, including D’Youville.

The college on Porter Avenue each year since 2013 has provided 10 scholarships for Say Yes students whose family income is below $75,000. In those cases, the college waives whatever tuition isn’t covered by state and federal aid.

Now, the college has removed that annual cap and, starting in the spring, will offer an unlimited number of scholarships to eligible Say Yes students.

“This is just one more way that we are eliminating barriers to higher education for economically disadvantaged students,” said Lorrie Clemo, D’Youville president. “We want more students to take advantage of our high return on investment, which can be life-changing for our graduates.”

Say Yes provides $5,000 to the eligible students whose families earn more than $75,000 a year.
