College Access Program

How to apply for FAFSA, TAP, and Say Yes, and get help along the way.

Let’s get started!

If you are graduating from a Buffalo public or charter high school, then you are most likely eligible for a full or partial Say Yes Scholarship that will assist with your college or postsecondary tuition! (Read more about eligibility here.)

Getting financial aid and a Say Yes scholarship is a three-step process:

  1. Apply for the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
  2. Apply for TAP (New York State’s Tuition Assistance Program)
  3. Complete the Say Yes Scholarship registration

What You will Need

  • Access to computer or laptop with internet
  • Student’s social security number
  • Parent/caregiver social security number(s) (if applying as dependent)
  • Parent/caregiver 2020 tax return (if they filed) (if applying as dependent)
    • Your parent/caregiver(s)’ w2(s) if they filed a joint return
  • Student’s 2020 tax return (if they filed)
