According to Cheyenne, “If it were not for Say Yes, I honestly do not know where I would be today. It is thanks to Say Yes and to those contributing to it that I am able to attend the University at Buffalo. I have confidence now that I can reach my goals and pursue my dreams of a successful business oriented career.”
Cheyanne attended Bennett High School and graduated in 2013 as class valedictorian. She did well in high school and was involved in many extra-curriculars where she learned about the opportunities available to her if she pursued a college degree but saw many of her classmates struggle and lack support toward reaching that goal. Then the Say Yes Buffalo scholarship was announced.
“During my senior year I saw kids that were saying ‘I’m not going to college, I’m going to work’ begin to say ‘I got accepted to Medaille and I’m going.’ They changed over time because of Say Yes.”
Now a junior at the University at Buffalo, Cheyenne maintains an honor role GPA while also pursuing internship and other career preparatory opportunities as she aims to graduate as part of the first class of Say Yes Buffalo Scholars in 2017.
